This portfolio was made specifically to showcase items from a Therapeutic D&D 5e campaign I wrote and managed for children in a Behavioral Health program. Though designed for solo play, it can be adjusted to suit any party size. It can be played using only the Dungeon Master’s Guide, Monster Manual, and Player’s Handbook.
Prep Document:
For this middle-grade fairytale mashup campaign, I created an original background and warlock patron adaptations, both of which are optional.
Recruitable Companions
Because C.H. was written as a solo campaign, I built several recruitable characters into the plot. Each of these characters has a personal quest that must be fulfilled before joining the party permanently.
Introductory Session
The C.H. campaign ran for six months, totaling over 20 sessions. Most sessions were tailored to optimize player agency, but I’ve adapted the initial session to the PDF below.
Map/Locations
The game took place within four main regions, the first of which is its namesake, Candlewood Hollow. I’ve mapped and described the locations and related NPCs/Quests in the document below.
Quest Design Document
D&D quests are highly malleable and typically spread through multiple documents. I have adapted one of the C.H. quests to a more design document format more common in computer game development.
